About Aleki
Hi! You can call me Aleki or Alexander.
I grew up in Switzerland, lived in France, now in London. (I'm trilingual.) I have the privilege to have travelled very widely too - especially all around Europe, and in East Asia.
I'm a massive fan of ecosystem restoration and regeneration. I believe that it is possible (and necessary) almost everywhere on the planet (for climate, biodiversity and human prosperity). I also believe that degradation also often underpins most social and economic conflicts/disasters.
I currently work for eco-restoration projects as a business and partnership developer, as well as a freelance copy-editor. I'm just getting started after a professional transition in 2019-20. I'd love to support regeneration, rewilding & agroforestry projects worldwide as a fundraiser, networker and advocate! I'm currently open to more work - so please do get in touch, even if you just need some text cop-edited :-)
(For example, in one of my lines of work I edit critical evaluations of carbon credits around the world. In another, I'm helping a wonderful Dutch company to tackle an invasive "pest" species ecologically in the United Kingdom. The oak processionary moth. Usually, this insect is destroyed with pesticides or incinerated. We're showing people that its nests host huge biodiversity, and that we can bring balance while restoring urban + agricultural ecosystems!)
My background is quite varied. I have English and French law degrees, then worked as a salesman and client consultant in sustainable investment & sustainability ratings. (I've also worked for short periods as a lawyer, a recruiter, a researcher, an event producer, in restaurants, on farms, and in my cousin's Scottish seafood business.)
Volunteering has also really helped me to stay sane in recent years. While I allowed the full reality of ecological degradation and climate breakdown to land in me. I've been lucky to visit and contribute to projects doing tree-planting, river restoration and agroecology in many countries, including England, Scotland, Switzerland, France, Italy, Senegal and Taiwan.
To tell you two last things about me: making food is a big passion, and so is making music!
I hope to visit your restoration project some day soon :-)
